HIC 700 Voltage Monitor The HIC 700 Voltage Monitor is used in conjunction with the factory Fast Idle function on GM C-series medium duty trucks to automatically engage a High Idle when insufficient alternator output causes the battery voltage to drop. Common applications:
Will work on the following engines:
The HIC700 voltage monitor is used in conjunction with the UF3 fast idle option. If the vehicle was not ordered with the UF3 fast idle option a Tech2 scan tool must be used to enable the fast idle option and adjust the factory preset parameters to the desired settings. A fast idle speed of 1300 RPM will provide sufficient alternator output. The HIC700 voltage monitor will monitor the battery voltage. If the battery voltage drops below 12.6V for 10 seconds, the voltage monitor will send a signal to the vehicles computer and engage the fast idle. The green led on the voltage monitor will turn on when the battery voltage drops below 12.6 volts. For the fast idle to be enabled, the following conditions must be met:
The operator can also activate
the fast idle mode by pressing the fast idle switch. If the switch is pressed
while the engine is in the fast idle mode, the engine will return to normal
base idle. |
